Roche Diagnostics Joins Forces with (RED) to Raise Awareness About the Importance of Testing in the AIDS Fight

7.1 million people globally are HIV positive but don’t know it, and of the 38 million people living with HIV, only 59% are taking medication to suppress the virus.

Roche Diagnostics and (RED) are teaming up to help change this. The brand new partnership focuses on raising awareness about the importance of HIV testing and regular screening in the fight to end AIDS.

Accurate HIV tests can provide people with the lifesaving information they need to manage their health. With treatment, the viral load of a person living with HIV can be suppressed to the point where it’s unlikely the virus will be transmitted to others. This is especially critical for HIV-positive pregnant women because an early positive diagnosis can provide information to help them stay healthy and ensure their children are born HIV free. Preventing the transmission of the virus is critical to ending AIDS once and for all.

Roche and (RED) share a mission to improve access to HIV diagnostic testing with the goal of an AIDS-free generation by 2030.

“Through this partnership, there is an opportunity to encourage more widespread HIV diagnostic testing so that people living with HIV are empowered to better manage and maintain their health for a prosperous future.” -Bernard Colombo, President Europe Middle East, Africa and Latin America, Roche Diagnostics International
